Proper Magnet Selection Ensures Satisfaction Suspended Magnet Separator Application Form (Excel form)
The magnetic field configuration of suspended magnets, regardless of make, is deeper at the center than at the sides. Thus, a magnet narrower than the width of the belt can pull some tramp iron from the belt center but leaves little or no protection at the sides. In order to properly blanket the entire width of material being conveyed, it is generally desirable to use a magnet as wide as the conveyor belt.
Selection of the proper suspended magnet requires careful evaluation of all operating conditions and separation objectives. These factors include magnet mounting position, burden depth, bulk density of material being conveyed, belt speed, belt width, and the shape and size of tramp iron to be removed.
Combination Units Provide Extra Protection A Stearns combination unit provides an extra measure of protection from tramp iron or increased product cleaning.
